2009 - Mater Medical Research Institute (MMRI) for Prostate Cancer Research

The Lexus of Brisbane Group each year supports a charity on behalf of you, our owners, which has been aptly named "The Lexus Owners' Gift".

The 2009 recipient of the Lexus Owner’s Gift is the Mater Medical Research Institute (MMRI) for Prostate Cancer Research.

Prostate cancer  is the most common cancer in Australian men, affecting one in nine men in Australia.  Just imagine how many families will have fathers, sons, brothers and grandfathers touched by prostate cancer.  With this gift we are working to help the MMRI towards their goals in prostate cancer research.

Lexus Owner’s Gift has donated a Rotor Gene Q machine to MMRI.  This machine allows scientists to look at the gene makeup of a cancer cell and aid the identification of those genes which may cause cancer or stop the cell from dying naturally.

Some facts:

- Prostate cancer is no longer an old mans disease

- Simple testing by a GP can indicate prostate cancer

- Early detection can be achieved
